Universal & Accessible

Universal and accessible designs are ADA compliant with features to make the home user-friendly to accommodate people with limited mobility and still make sense for everyone. The most common feature among these plans is that they are very open, with fewer walls to obstruct movement and wider doors and hallways to allow wheelchairs easy passage. Bathrooms are spacious with enough room for a 360-degree turn. Grab bars, lower sinks and roll-in showers with seats are common when designing an accessible bathroom. Accessible kitchens have lower countertops ground level cabinets and typically have an open space design for ease of wheelchair rotation as well. But it is the small details that are often overlooked but are extremely important. Such things as the location of light switches and electrical outlets or installing paddle-type handles on sinks and doors are just a few of the features that an experienced universal and accessible design/build firm takes into consideration during the design process. You don’t have to compromise on style or design to get what you need. At Miranda, Hardt and O’Leary Contracting. we can transform the home you love or design a new one that accommodates physical needs with a touch of elegance.

We also specialize in elevator additions to reverse floor plans so you can enjoy your home for years to come without the worry of walking up and down steps.
